About Us

HDDFA specializes in the Hard Disk Drive Failure Analysis. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of Research Development Consultants Inc.

Research Development Consultants was founded in 1986. It is a data storage consulting company specializing in development of new storage-related technologies, technology analyses, and failure analyses.

Ronald W. Dennison is RDC's founder and principal consultant.

He has been involved in 1000’s of hard drive failure and competitive analyses during his career. HDDFA/RDC routinely performs such analyses for an extensive array of clients ranging from Fortune 100 companies to start-ups. It also provides extensive system design help based on these failure analyses.

He is an outstanding technical contributor with a world-wide reputation in the storage industry. Ron has developed new products and managed research and development efforts at Memorex, Perkin-Elmer, Hewlett Packard, Unisys, Eikon, Toshiba, Quantum, Maxtor, TeraStor and MarQlin.

He was the technical founder of one of the first thin film disk companies, a pioneer in thin film (MR and inductive) heads and a recognized industry leader in storage technology.

He is also the co-organizer of two major data storage conferences:
Storage Visions and Creative Storage.

Ron is a Founding Director of IDEMA, the data storage industry association. The author of numerous technical papers and presentations, he has over 30 years experience in the data storage industry. He has been a consultant for more than 15 years.
